We're looking for an enthusiastic individual who is keen to expand their skills and develop a career in underwriting. An exciting time to join the SCOR underwriting team, with advancements in data and technology unlocking new ways to improve outcomes for customers, the market and SCOR. In this role you'll work with a small energetic team to deliver underwriting & claims excellence, using your administrative skills to support the day to day running of the teams whilst completing a structured training plan to achieve your own underwriting authorities.

Job Description
This role is key to supporting the delivery of Underwriting & Claims service, being responsible for processing work coming into the teams, updating databases and workflows whilst supporting the team with a variety of administrative tasks. The underwriting & claims systems are going through transformation; the role holder would be involved in supporting increased automation as well as supporting with development of MI and report analysis.
Alongside administrative responsibilities this individual will train to develop their underwriting knowledge, with a structured plan in place to learn the skills involved in reinsurance underwriting such as medical knowledge, risk assessment and the interpretation of philosophy and treaties. The individual would be assessing cases with the support of experienced underwriters to work towards obtaining their own underwriting authorities.
As part of a small team this individual will get involved in a variety of work which all ultimately aims to help clients get the right underwriting and claims decision at the earliest opportunity. For example, following up on pending claims, reviewing MI, supporting the team with organising training, events or meetings. This role provides opportunity to gain knowledge of reinsurance, working closely with other departments to build a strong foundation for a career in underwriting.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Support quick and accurate assessment of underwriting cases & claims by creating and updating entries within databases, managing workflow and monitoring service levels
- Check SCOR in force data details of any existing policies
- Assess underwriting evidence and cases suggesting decisions & working towards an underwriting authority
- Learning SCOR and SCOR's clients underwriting philosophies and how to apply these in practice
- Provide operational excellence supporting achievement of service levels.
- To develop the technical knowledge, judgement, and regulatory understanding required to underwrite Life and Health insurance risks
- Support underwriting and claims teams in the managing of client relationships and risk management
- Assist with the production of MI and the analysis of these to understand and drive performance and priorities
- Support the building of systems to automate the administrative processes in underwriting and claims

Required experience & competencies
- Self-starter, able to manage own workload, be proactive and take ownership
- Strong interest in underwriting and desire to progress as an underwriter
- Ability to problem solve and take information from different sources to build a picture of risk assessment
- Experience in Protection value chain, at either distributor, insurer or reinsurer, including ability to work with multiple systems
- Knowledge of how Protection insurance/ reinsurance works
- Ability to build strong relationships both within the team and across stakeholders
- Ability to interpret MI results
- Medical knowledge (such as scientific A levels or degree) are advantageous
