Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician
An opportunity has arisen for a qualified, experienced, motivated, and patient-focused Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic pharmacy team as part of South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting safe, effective, and patient-centred use of medicines across inpatient and dispensary services.
About the Role
You will work closely with pharmacists, ward teams, and wider multidisciplinary staff to ensure high-quality medicines management, contributing directly to improved patient outcomes.
The post holder will support the safe, effective, and timely supply of medicines to patients and end users across the Bethlem Royal Hospital and Ladywell unit, based within University Hospital Lewisham, and will also cover some dispensary services on the Bethlem site.
You will play a central role in medicines reconciliation, prescription checking, and stock management, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and national guidelines.
This role requires a proactive and compassionate individual who can work independently and collaboratively, with a strong focus on patient safety, communication, and service improvement.

Responsibilities
- To participate in the provision of pharmaceutical care initiatives to ensure the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medicines.
- To provide safe, timely, cost-effective, appropriate, and high-quality pharmaceutical services for patients and staff.
- To act as a role model to junior staff and provide support and training.
- To assist in ensuring that key processes and procedures are in place.
- To supervise Pharmacy Technicians, Assistant Technical Officers, and, where appropriate, Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPT).
Requirements
- You will be a registered pharmacy technician with an NVQ level 3 in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent and hold an accredited checking qualification (ACT).
- Further education and training are encouraged and supported by the education and training Chief Pharmacy Technician.

This post provides the opportunity to use your skills providing patient care at ward level, as well as delivering an efficient, technician-led dispensary service.

The pharmacy department provides a clinical and dispensing service to wards and community teams in Croydon, Southwark, Lambeth, and Lewisham across four main hospital sites as well as a wide variety of community mental health teams. We provide information about medication to both staff and patients to improve understanding and contribute to evidence-based care.
