MedTech Operations Specialist (Governance, ESG & Insurance)

+ Senior Risk & Compliance Operational Lead

Location & Type: Remote (UK or Ireland based) with occasional travel to Dublin, Oxford/Kidlington (UK), and USA

You will connect all domains—not as a specialist in one—but as the central operational operator with visibility and responsibility across risks, compliance, insurance, and decision-making.

This is an owner’s role: no team structure underneath, nor defined lane. You will establish operational processes from scratch alongside building and improving existing workflows to support our fast-scaling business in a highly regulated industry.


Role Purpose

Key Description

You own the cross-group execution of operational risk, compliance, insurance, and ESG under the strategic direction of the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer (CRCO).

Your focus is 100% hands-on execution. You interpret the CRCO’s framework, act on timelines, and ensure everything runs smoothly. This role carries:

✔ Real ownership of workstreams ✔ Exceptional variety in exposure ✔ Accelerated growth within a high-impact, complex industry ✔ No stakeholder-facing strategy work (no board, regulator, or client facing responsibilities)


Core Workstreams

Your role is split between two business functions:

1. Operational Delivery

  • Maintain the Group’s infrastructure (applications, documentation).
  • Ensure up-to-date risk register prioritisation for Board & investors.
  • Coordinate insurance clause renewals, mid-term adjustments, and certifications across locations (UK, Ireland, US, Canada) working alongside brokers.
  • Track supplier risks across the Group and prevent ring-fencing dependencies on key vendors.
  • Log, escalate, and resolve incidents, supporting audit/diligence requests to closure.
  • Gather & validate ESG data for investor reporting and customer due diligence.

2. Rimlands Coordination

  • Build consolidated compliance calendar (audits, ISO/ESG reliance renewals, submission dates).
  • Build reporting packs for CRCO with up-to-date status updates on yearly deadlines.

What This Role Excludes

  • Developing frameworks, methodology tools/policies (strategic responsibility of CRCO).
  • Board/audit conversations, regulator interaction, or negotiations with investors.
  • Setting risk appetite, defining policy positions, and escalation thresholds.
  • Interpreting contracts/legal nuances.
  • In-depth incident investigations focus (technical lead keeps ownership).
    • Does not own clinical governance, ISO audits, GDPR/GDPR, AI Act governance, or regulatory submissions—each is specialised to its team.

Person Specification

Essential

✅ 5+ years in operational programmes (preferably healthcare with deep understanding in medtech, life sciences, or clinical services). ✔ Coordination experience labelling stakeholders: senior leaders, functional leads, and operational mangers. ✔ Handles 50+ prioritised tasks at a time independently, ensuring none are forgotten. ✅ Direct risk register management (tracking, updating, presenting Board-level overviews). ✔ Anonymously manages insurance and incident data without breaching confidentiality. ✔ Experience optimizing complex workflows, hitting deadlines without micromanagement. ✔ Repeatedly demonstrates prioritization (“I ... knowing when to drive a project vs. leave it”). ✔ Experience managing GDPR, audit scenarios and cascade requests.

Desirable

⚡ Experience with critical supplier/risk dependency analysis or sensitivity assessment. ⚡ Familiarity with vendor risk management, ESG processes or incident workflows. ⚡ Working knowledge of GDPR, ISO, MDR/IVDR, CLIA/CAP, enough to get technical explanation fact while working with specialists. ⚡ Experience managing multi-location/multi-company de-risking strategies.
