Meetings & Events Team Leader / Assistant Manager
The Role Outline: Your Shift at a Glance
Your focus is to deliver a fantastic, high-energy Meetings & Events operation, working closely alongside your manager. You will ensure that our conference and banqueting spaces consistently offer the highest professional standards of service while maximizing overall profitability. You achieve this by leading shifts from the front and running various events from the initial planning stages right through to welcoming guests, delivery, and final farewells. You will also regularly deputise for the Manager to keep the department ahead of the game.
Why Village?
At Village, we do hospitality a little differently. We are all about personality, genuine connections, and creating great experiences for our guests and each other. That is why we back our teams to be themselves, take ownership, learn new skills, and grow their careers.
Previous experience is great, but your attitude and energy matter much more to us. If you are friendly, positive, love working with people, and enjoy being part of a busy team, we will give you all the support, training, and opportunities you need. Because it really does take a Village.
How The Village Thrives
We live our culture through four simple commitments:
- We Can & We Do: We show up to make a genuine difference and do fantastic work everyday, with purpose. We welcome change, support our management team, and actively participate in building a vibrant department culture.
- We Will: Treat each other with respect and dignity. No ego, no drama. We try our best, look out for each other, and coordinate closely with the sales team to offer seamless solutions for our clients.
- We Care: We care about our impact on guests, the community, and each other. We love to WOW our conference and banqueting guests with enthusiasm and meticulous attention to detail from welcome to farewell.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
