This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Member of Engineering (Experiment Platform) based in the United Kingdom.
This role offers the opportunity to build foundational infrastructure that accelerates advanced AI research and engineering workflows.
You will work at the intersection of research, infrastructure, and developer platforms, creating systems that improve how cutting-edge models are designed and evaluated.
The position focuses on building scalable backend services, APIs, and tools that enable faster experimentation and collaboration across teams.
You will contribute to a greenfield platform used by researchers and engineers to streamline workflows, manage experiments, and improve iteration cycles.
The environment combines deep technical challenges with a strong focus on engineering quality, ownership, and impact.
You will collaborate with highly skilled teams working on the future of AI development in a remote-first, international setting.
Accountabilities:
As a Member of Engineering (Experiment Platform), you will:
- Own the development of a reliable and scalable platform that connects research systems and improves the overall model development process.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex research needs into robust technical solutions while driving adoption of efficient workflows.
- Design and develop backend services using primarily Python and Go to support API gateways and experiment platform capabilities.
- Build scalable APIs, data models, and developer tools that simplify research workflows and improve engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with research, infrastructure, and platform teams to deliver solutions aligned with evolving technical needs.
- Develop and maintain the Experiment CLI to enable efficient, agent-driven research workflows.
- Integrate platform capabilities with existing research infrastructure, including training and evaluation pipelines.
- Create dashboards and tracking solutions to measure adoption, usage, and platform effectiveness.

Requirements:
- Experienced engineer with strong backend development skills and a passion for building high-quality systems that solve complex technical challenges.
- Thrive in ambiguous environments, take ownership of projects, and enjoy collaborating with diverse teams to deliver impactful solutions.
- Proven experience building production-grade APIs, distributed systems, or platform infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of backend architecture, API design, database systems, and software engineering best practices.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and align stakeholders around technical goals.
- Experience designing reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems in fast-moving environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently drive technical projects forward.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with machine learning research workflows, including experiments, training runs, evaluations, checkpoints, configurations, and datasets.
