Job Purpose
There is an opportunity for a qualified actuary to join our growing Bulk Annuity Operations team at Canada Life, a business with a growing presence. This role offers the chance to play a meaningful part in the next phase of our growth by managing a team, developing a scalable bulk annuity proposition for the future and supporting key client relationship management. It provides an excellent opportunity to combine strong technical DB skills with team leadership and stakeholder management, and to have a real, visible impact on outcomes for both our customers and our business.
Key Accountabilities
- Managing a team of actuaries and analysts to produce and review quotations.
- Automating calculations to enable members to self serve as they approach retirement.
- Reviewing legal agreements and contributing to contract negotiations with external stakeholders.
- Supporting business development and relationship management meeting with clients where appropriate.
- Managing stakeholders and ensuring compliance with risk governance.
- Keeping abreast of industry issues and developments to ensure the business processes and strategies are in line with the industry.
- Provide appropriate support to managers and others to implement recommendations/facilitate change to support the requirements of the business.

Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills
- Strong knowledge of UK Defined Benefit pensions
- Familiarity with bulk annuity market and products
- Experience of managing stakeholders
- Strong communication skills (able to communicate technical issues to senior people including non-actuaries)
- Understanding and ability to implement/maintain an actuarial control framework
- Qualified actuary
