Role: Membership Engagement & Events Co-ordinator, Goldsmiths’ Company

Job type: Full time, permanent

Hours: Fulltime 33.75 per week

Typically, 9:30am to 5:15pm, but flexitime is in operation for the 10-15 evening events per year. UK travel required to deliver events.

Salary: £27,000

About The Role

We are seeking a self-motivated, highly organised, and personable Membership Engagement & Events Co-ordinator to join our friendly team. This is a customer-facing position supporting the delivery of a varied portfolio of membership events, from high-end luxury dining to induction programmes, that engage our 1,500-strong UK-wide membership, many of whom volunteer their time to the Goldsmiths’ Company.

You will join a team of three in the Membership Department, reporting to the Membership Events Manager. The team leads the Membership Strategy, covering recruitment and progression, engagement, events, and communications,

You will provide essential administrative support for a busy, year-round programme of events and activities, ensuring smooth operations and accurate record-keeping across multiple systems while delivering an excellent experience for our members. You will also support the Membership Administrator with new member applications and member progression.

Key responsibilities include managing records in the members’ portal and CRM, preparing guest lists and invitations, and coordinating activities such as Goldsmiths’ Giving (our members’ fundraising platform), and member events.

The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while handling multiple events. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in event administration and database management are vital, along with flexibility and a proactive approach to planning and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative support: Deliver day-to-day administrative tasks to assist with planning and coordination of membership events and general administration, monitor inboxes, and manage responses.
  • Data management: Maintain accurate records in the members’ portal and CRM, including Goldsmiths’ Giving and event attendance.
  • Guest coordination: Prepare guest lists, send invitations, and track responses.
  • Member liaison: Provide professional, timely communication to build positive relationships with members.
  • Internal collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across the Goldsmiths’ Company to support event delivery.
  • Digital systems: Use platforms including the members’ portal, CRM, Word, Excel, Teams, and Zoom to manage events and engagement.
  • Event support: Provide front-of-house assistance during member events, including evening events.
  • Membership engagement: Deliver an excellent customer experience at all times.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in administration, including coordinating a range of administrative duties.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, delivering exceptional client service.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling and record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using CRM systems (knowledge of Beacon CRM is an advantage).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and flexible under pressure while supporting multiple events.
  • Previous experience providing administrative support for events is essential.

You will have to work out of normal office hours to support around 10-15 membership events in the year – some of which will be outside of London. These events run into the evening, and you will be expected to stay until 7.30pm. You will be responsible for managing your contractual hours in consideration of evening work (through time off in lieu)
