Membership Engagement Manager (12-Month Maternity Cover)
Professional Membership Organisation
Location: London with hybrid working (2 days per week in the office)
Salary: £45,000 - £49,000 per annum + benefits
About the Role
Are you an inspiring people manager with a passion for growing and engaging membership communities?
Our client, a well-respected professional membership organisation, is looking for an experienced Membership Engagement Manager to lead its membership function during a 12-month maternity cover. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation where member engagement, retention and experience are at the heart of everything they do.
Managing a small, high-performing team, you will take ownership of the membership journey, driving engagement strategies, improving retention, and ensuring members receive an outstanding experience. You'll also play a key role in supporting organisational growth and contributing to an exciting digital and CRM transformation programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop a small membership team, creating a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Develop and deliver membership engagement and retention strategies that strengthen member satisfaction and loyalty.
- Identify opportunities to grow membership value through improved engagement, onboarding and member communications.
- Oversee the full membership lifecycle, ensuring efficient and high-quality membership services.
- Analyse membership data and CRM insights to identify trends, measure performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Work closely with marketing and internal stakeholders to deliver targeted engagement and retention campaigns.
- Support regional engagement activity, ensuring a consistent and high-quality member experience across networks.
- Build strong relationships with volunteers, committees and key stakeholders.
- Contribute to ongoing CRM and digital transformation projects, helping to improve member experience and operational effectiveness.

About You
We are looking for an experienced membership professional who combines strategic thinking with a hands-on approach.
You will have:
- A proven track record of delivering successful membership engagement, retention and growth initiatives.
- Experience managing and developing high-performing teams, including hybrid or remote colleagues.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and inspire others.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Experience using CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics or similar) to drive insight and performance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret membership data and translate it into action.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience within a membership organisation, professional body, trade association or similar environment.
- Experience of CRM implementation, member journey improvement or Power BI would be advantageous but is not essential.
