Heritage for Everyone

Heritage lives in places and people, memories and stories, artefacts and traditions. It can connect us all to the past, and to each other. It can make us happier, strengthen every community, and help shape society for the better. Everybody should be able to enjoy the benefits it brings. That's why, as a charity, we care for over a million objects and hundreds of historic sites in every part of England, from international icons to local treasures. And it's why we open them up, share their stories and find new ways for everybody to enjoy, learn, play and create.

About the Role

We are looking for a Membership Recruiter to join us at Eltham Palace working 14hrs per week April-October, 0hrs November-March per week.

No history background? No problem. What is important to us is a passion for people and excellent customer service. You will enjoy working with others as part of a team and understand what makes excellent customer service to deliver an engaging visitor experience to a diverse audience.

About Eltham Palace

From the 14th to the 16th century Eltham was an important royal palace, where monarchs often stayed and hunted in the surrounding parks. After centuries of neglect, it was leased to Stephen and Virginia Courtauld in 1933, who built an up-to-the-minute house that incorporated the great hall. The result was a masterpiece of 20th-century design.

Today the site welcomes c.130,000 visitors a year to get a taste of the Courtaulds' extravagant lifestyle as they explore the 1930s millionaire's mansion and wander the palace's beautiful gardens.

Responsibilities

By joining us as a Eltham Palace Membership Recruiter, you will be part of an amazing team of employees and volunteers, ensuring visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye. Working as part of a team, you will deliver a warm welcome to everyone and by connecting with our visitors, you will engage and inspire them to become members of English Heritage, helping them to see and do more at our properties whilst helping us to secure our long term future of the Charity. You will be confident in talking to our visitors and will thrive on exceeding targets for your team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
