Contract Details
- Salary: £27,430–£33,056 (dependent on experience) + excellent benefits
- Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
- Contract: 12–15 month fixed-term maternity leave cover

The Role
The Legal Team at St Andrew’s is seeking a Mental Health Law Caseworker to administer complex mental health legislation, ensuring timely, accurate, and comprehensive compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily administration of Mental Health Act 1983 and its Code of Practice
- Scrutinising, rectifying, and validating documents for legal correctness
- Ensuring adherence to statutory timeframes (e.g., section expiry dates)
- Coordinating:
- Hospital Manager reviews
- First Tier Tribunals
- Maintaining diary systems, spreadsheets, and records
- Informing detained patients of their legally protected rights
- Providing advice to staff and patients as needed
- Attending face-to-face training in Northampton (initial travel required)

About You
Essential Criteria
- Strong administration experience in a busy, fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel
- Excellent organisation, multitasking, and prioritisation skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication with:
- internal/external stakeholders (CQC, Ministry of Justice, solicitors, HM Prisons, tribunals, courts, patients, relatives)
- Ability to balance deadlines without compromising quality
