Senior Clinician – Bexley Home Treatment Team
The Bexley Home Treatment Team is a multidisciplinary service operating seven days a week, 365 days per year, delivering mental health crisis support to individuals. Its primary aim is to provide an alternative to inpatient care, delivering intensive, short-term clinical interventions to prevent admissions or enable safe early discharge. The team also conducts 72-hour follow-ups for individuals discharged from mental health inpatient units.
Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Clinician, you will play a vigilant gatekeeping role in assessing acute inpatient admissions, performing complex evaluations to determine whether individuals can be safely supported at home. Key duties include:
- Making evidence-based decisions under pressure, demonstrating high clinical autonomy and advanced risk formulation skills.
- Collaborating closely with:
- Assessment and Admission Avoidance (AAA) Team
- Mental Health Liaison Teams (MHLTs) and inpatient wards
- Community mental health teams
- Local authorities
- Promoting and developing clinical leadership, ensuring a culture of evidence-based practice.
- Acting as a positive role model for junior staff, facilitating professional growth through:
- Clinical supervision
- Appraisals
- Training and educational programmes
- Encouraging cross-organisational collaboration to improve service quality.
