An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Neighbourhood Mental Health Service.
We are looking to recruit an experienced mental health practitioner to work within the NMHS.
The post requires clear experience, knowledge and awareness of working within mental health in a community setting, however consideration will be given to candidates who have experience and transferable skills from other areas. We are seeking to appoint individuals who will work proactively with service users and their carers, within a multi-disciplinary setting, with provable experience of taking responsibility for assessment, monitoring and management of mental health, medication and risk.
This is currently a challenging position as Wigan services are currently undergoing transformation. An induction period also helps staff to feel supported in the community role.
The post holder will undertake a key worker role, alongside an assessment and formulation role within the team. The Neighbourhood Mental Health Service will enable timely access to mental health services when people need it most and provide support for people who might not traditionally meet the threshold or criteria of existing mental health services. The team will be multidisciplinary and will also include third sector organizations. The areas that this team will cover is the whole of the Wigan Borough.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
