About the Role
We are looking for someone compassionate, practical, and motivated to join York’s Community Mental Health Hub at Acomb Garth.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing, multi-agency mental health service, working alongside colleagues from health, social care, and voluntary sector organisations. The Hub provides a welcoming, person-centred space for people experiencing mental health difficulties, offering support within the building and out in the community.
Key Responsibilities

Work directly with individuals accessing the Hub, helping them to:
- Identify their strengths
- Build confidence
- Develop practical skills (e.g., daily living, social connection, independence)
- Access community resources and participate in activities

Provide practical and emotional support related to:
- Wellbeing
- Independence
- Wellbeing and connection strategies

Requirements & Ideal Attributes

Proven experience working with adults facing mental health challenges

Strong ability to:
- Build trusting relationships
- Communicate effectively
- Manage competing priorities
- Respond calmly to changing circumstances

Capable of working both as part of a multidisciplinary team and autonomously

Commitment to strengths-based, person-centred, and co-produced approaches

Deep knowledge and empathy for York’s local community

Creativity, flexibility, and genuine belief in recovery and lived well
Shift Pattern (Current)
- 1 x 12-hour shift per week (07:30 to 20:00)
- 1 x 6-hour shift (including weekend availability)
