About the Role
Southdown is one of the leading providers of mental health services in Sussex. We have transformed our services to provide easier access to mental health support for people across East Sussex.
As a Mental Health Support Coordinator, you’ll work in partnership and within the community to deliver targeted mental health and holistic support.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll support clients through:
- Initial assessments
- Facilitating access to other mental health services
- Delivering short-term recovery-focused interventions
- Co-creating personalised support plans and recovery goals
- Using coaching and motivational interviewing to explore barriers
- Travelling across neighbourhoods to provide accessible and community-based services

Ideal Candidate
We welcome applicants with experience such as:
- Support Worker
- Social Prescriber
- Case Manager
- Social Worker
- Care Coordinator
- Mental Health Specialist
- Service Coordinator
While experience is beneficial, full training will be provided for all successful candidates.
Requirements
Essential
- A good understanding of mental health work or equivalent transferable skills
- A genuine passion for supporting people to explore their needs
- Enhanced DBS check (paid for by Southdown)
- A full driving licence
- Access to your own car (or a car insured on your behalf)
Desirable
- Experience supporting clients experiencing mental health crises
- Abilities to assist those with complex challenges
