Department: Mental Health and Wellbeing Services Employment Type: Permanent Location: Greater Wealden (base: Hailsham, covering Wealden) Reporting To: Team Manager Compensation: £28,640 per year (~£22.5/hour, 22.5 hrs/week) Work Pattern: Includes evenings and weekend shifts (up to 8 pm at least once weekly)
About the Role
Southdown, one of Sussex’s leading mental health service providers, has revolutionised access to support across East Sussex. As a Mental Health Support Coordinator, you’ll collaborate locally to deliver targeted, recovery-focused mental health and holistic support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading initial client assessments to identify needs
- Co-creating and delivering short-term recovery-focused sessions (using coaching/motivational interviewing)
- Facilitating personalised support plans and goal-setting
- Assessing risks proactively and mitigating barriers to timely intervention
- Travel across neighbourhoods to offer accessible in-person and community-based support
- Working flexibly across Southdown buildings/voluntary locations

Key Prerequisites:
- A passion for empowering clients to achieve their goals through supported recovery
- An enhanced DBS check (provided by Southdown)
- A full UK driving licence and reliable transport (car access essential)
Preferred Backgrounds & Training
While previous experience in roles such as:
- Support Worker
- Social Prescriber
- Case Manager
- Social Worker
- Care Coordinator
- Mental Health Specialist
is valued, full training will be provided during a structured induction. Track record of supporting individuals in mental health crises or complex advocacy situations is advantageous but not mandatory.
