About the Role

Department: Mental Health and Wellbeing Services Location: Greater Wealden (Hailsham, covering Wealden) Compensation: £28,640 per year Hours: 22.5 hours per week Includes evenings and weekend shifts

Southdown is one of the leading providers of mental health services in Sussex. We have transformed our services to provide easier access to mental health support for people across East Sussex.

As a **Mental Health Support Coordinator****, you’ll work in partnership within the community to deliver targeted mental health and holistic support.


Responsibilities

You’ll support clients at every stage—from initial assessment to facilitating access to broader mental health services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and delivering short-term recovery-focused sessions
    • Co-creating personalised support plans and goals
    • Using coaching techniques and motivational interviewing to identify barriers
  • Operating across Southdown locations and community settings
    • Servicing neighbourhoods to provide accessible mental health services
  • Conducting dynamic risk assessments and overcoming obstacles
  • Ensuring clients can access necessary support
  • Working evenings at least once a week (until 8pm)

Requirements

Essential Criteria:

✔ Strong understanding of mental health practice or transferable equivalent skills ✔ Committed passion for supporting individuals in exploring their needs ✔ Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (employer-funded) ✔ Full UK driving licence plus access to your own vehicle (or a vehicle insured in your name)

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health challenges (including crisis or complex situations)

Training & Development:
