Requirements
Join us as an Apprentice Engineering Technician in our Building Services/MEP and Sustainability team to support the engineering team in the design, development, installation, and maintenance of building services systems and assessing the environmental impact they have on the built environment. This includes gaining practical experience and technical knowledge while working towards a formal qualification through your apprenticeship programme.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside industry experts with a variety of engineering and consultancy skills to provide integrated coordinated designs with high profile private and public-sector clients and collaborators within an award-winning system thinking multi-specialist practice.
Key elements of the job
As an Apprentice Engineering Technician, you will be contributing to:
Design and Technical Support
- Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications under supervision.
- Carry out basic calculations and support the development of mechanical, electrical, public health (MEP) and low carbon systems.
- Learn to use engineering and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools).
- Participate in developing sustainable and energy-efficient building services solutions.
Site and Project Support
- Attend site visits with senior engineers to support inspections, surveys, and monitoring of installations.
- Record site information and assist in reporting on project progress and technical issues.
- Observe and apply health and safety requirements during all site and office-based tasks.

Collaboration and Communication
- Work as part of a system thinking team, supporting coordination between design consultants, contractors, mixed specialisms, and suppliers.
- Take part in team meetings and technical workshops.
- Communicate effectively with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Join in with team and company social events and collaboration.
Learning and Development
- Follow the apprenticeship training plan, including attending college or training center as required. Apply learning from coursework to practical tasks in the workplace.
- Keep a log of training, experience, and development progress to meet apprenticeship standards.
Your apprenticeship
- Full-time role with 1 day per week at university and 4 days in practice.

Competencies
- A levels (or equivalent) in Mathematics and Physical Sciences
- 5 GCSEs including Math and English (grade 4 and above)
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Strong attention to detail and visual/graphical skills.
- Confidence with IT and digital tools.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn.
