CAD/BIM Technician – Building Services MEP (Manchester)
We are looking for a talented and collaborative CAD/BIM Technician to support our Building Services MEP team.
This role is specifically focused on Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health building services design, so previous experience and a good understanding of MEP services is essential. The successful candidate will be confident working with building services engineers to produce accurate, coordinated, and technically robust CAD drawings and BIM models.
Sustainable design is at the heart of our Practice, and collectively, we aim to create inspirational designs that protect our climate and enhance the built environment.
As a CAD/BIM Technician, you will join one of our friendly studios and support projects across a range of sectors, including residential, education, commercial, development, regeneration, and public-sector work. You will work closely with MEP engineers, project managers, and wider design teams, supporting the delivery of coordinated design information from early-stage concepts through to technical design, tender, and construction information.
The role will involve translating MEP design concepts, engineer mark-ups, sketches, schematics, and technical information into detailed CAD drawings and BIM models. You will help ensure that building services designs are correctly documented, coordinated, and delivered in accordance with project requirements, company standards, and relevant industry procedures.
You will play an important role in supporting the design team with clear, accurate, and well-presented MEP information, including layouts, schematics, sections, details, builders’ work information, and coordinated service zones.
Key Elements Of The Role Include
- Producing 2D drawings and 3D models for Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health building services using AutoCAD, Revit, and other CAD/BIM software.
- Preparing and updating MEP layouts, schematics, sections, details, builders’ work drawings, and coordinated service zone drawings.
- Revising drawings and models in line with design changes, engineer mark-ups, and project requirements.
- Supporting the preparation of MEP drawing packages for planning, technical design, tender, construction, and client review.
- Coordinating MEP information with architectural, structural, and wider design team models and drawings.
- Assisting with clash avoidance and coordination of building services within ceiling voids, risers, plantrooms, distribution routes, and service zones.
- Maintaining drawing standards, templates, families, blocks, and project libraries.
- Ensuring drawings and models comply with company CAD/BIM standards, project protocols, and agreed issue procedures.
- Supporting the team with drawing issue sheets, printing, plotting, document control, and archiving of technical documents.
- Providing CAD/BIM support to MEP engineers and project teams as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
