Location: London / Basingstoke
Hours: Full-time (flexible hours available upon request)
About the Role
Kier Mechanical & Electrical (KME) is the in-house MEP delivery business within the Kier Group, providing integrated mechanical, electrical, and public health services across major construction and strategic projects nationally.
As MEP Project Director, you will take overall responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of major, technically complex MEP packages on large construction projects—from pre-construction all the way through to commissioning and handover. This role operates at a senior leadership level, overseeing safety, programme, quality, and commercial performance while ensuring seamless integration with the wider construction team and Kier’s "One Team" delivery model.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the pre-construction and full lifecycle delivery of large MEP work packages on complex construction projects (typically with MEP values of £50m–£200m+)
- Provide strategic leadership across design, commercial planning, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover
- Align MEP strategy, sequencing, and programme with the broader construction delivery plan
- Hold full accountability for safety, health, environment, quality, cost, programme, and risk in MEP delivery
- Serve as the senior MEP interface with clients, consultants, supply chain partners, and Kier’s construction leadership

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
