About the Role
The Merchandise Assistant (MA) supports the Merchandising function, playing a critical role in ensuring efficiency and achieving departmental targets for customer satisfaction, sales, and profit.
As part of this team, you’ll contribute to everyday tasks such as updating supplier order books, booking stock, resolving problem orders, and managing stock movements to ensure the right products are in the right place—maximising profitability across all channels.
Responsibilities
Order (30%)
- Support with size ratio analysis of lines for smaller brands, under guidance from the Assistant Merchandiser (AM).
- Create and upload purchase orders, verifying all details for accuracy before dispatching to suppliers.
- Reconcile supplier order books and address any anomalies.

Stock (35%)
- Update supplier order books and ETA (Expected Timeline) reports in the system.
- Book in products as directed by the Merchandiser.
- Act as the first point of contact for warehouse teams regarding delivery issues and problem orders.
- Conduct cost and retail checks on warehouse-received orders in coordination with the AM.
- Perform scheduling (initial allocation) checks.
Trade (35%)
- Generate and distribute key reports for Monday team meetings.
- Develop product area expertise through report analysis and store visits.
- Optimise sales by reviewing ideal stock levels for bestsellers.
- Coordinate inbound transfers (IBTs) and identify stock movements with the AM.
- Compile and verify weekly price amendment reports.
- Follow up on retail and branch merchandising feedback to support stores.
- Evaluate new store performance, recommending actions to the team.
- Fulfill marketing requests.
- Produce ad-hoc reports and analyses as required.

Ensure the Merchandising team delivers departmental goals and KPIs—focusing on sales, profit, and stock—across both physical stores and digital channels.
