We are looking for a dedicated and ambitious candidate with a focus on numbers, systems, and collaboration to support our Merchandising team based at our Bury Head Office.
Job Description
The Merchandise Assistant reports to the Merchandiser, offering vital support across daily tasks from order processing to trade reporting, ensuring optimal stock management for profit maximisation.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for career growth within a supportive merchandising team at JD Sports Fashion.
Responsibilities
Order Management (30%)
- Support size ratio analysis for smaller brands under AM guidance
- Generate and verify purchase orders via upload, ensuring accuracy before sending
- Reconcile supplier order books and report discrepancies

Stock Handling (35%)
- Update supplier order books and ETA reports within the system
- Book in products following Merchandiser instructions
- Serve as the first point of contact for warehouse queries, including delivery issues & problem orders
- Perform cost/retail checks on orders in collaboration with the Assistant Merchandiser
- Review scheduling (initial allocation)
Trade & Commercial (35%)
- Prepare and present key reporting for Monday trade meetings
- Develop awareness of product trends through report analysis & store visits
- Optimise best-selling products by assessing ideal stock levels
- Execute IBT stock movements alongside the Assistant Merchandiser
- Collect and vet weekly price amendments
- Follow up on Retail/Branch Merchandising feedback
- Monitor new store performance, proposing actions to support team decisions
- Process marketing requests
- Produce ad-hoc reports/analysis as needed by the team
- Develop cross-functional collaboration
