Merchandiser - Cosmetics and Fragrence

Merchandiser – Cosmetics & Fragrance Team (Fixed Term, 9 Months)

Location: Knightsbridge Head Office

About the Role The Merchandiser will manage orders, stock levels and strategic planning for the Beauty Department, collaborating with Supply Chain, Finance and Marketing to optimise stock, sales and profitability.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Order & Stock Management

    • Oversee full category ordering for cosmetic/fragrance brands, ensuring alignment with demand forecasting, financial constraints and business objectives.
    • Execute purchase order amendments/cancellations and revise forecasts as needed for DCon withdrawal plans and new product launches.
    • Implement.NET sell-through reporting and OTB analytics to guide merchandising decisions.
  • Budgeting & Strategic Planning

    • Present analytical insights at brand strategy meetings, providing quantified data on growth opportunities, projected budgets and planned launches.
    • Propose range reviews with buyers to balance customer appeal with overstock/terminal risk mitigation.
    • Analyze DCon impact across categories and devise corrective strategies.
  • Stock & Logistics Coordination

    • Maintain optimal stock levels, overseeing replenishments, transfers, allocations, returns and PAR level management.
    • Liaise with suppliers, warehouses, and stores to align delivery schedules and address supply chain issues.

  • New Product & Portfolio Management

    • Configure new brand/product system entries (pricing, margins, PPM, descriptions).
    • Work with internal stakeholders to assess new product ranges and align them with target sales goals.
  • Reporting & Collaboration

    • Generate weekly/monthly sales, supplier and risk reports.
    • Identify standout products and trends; share findings at monthly team meetings.
    • Support marketing-driven sales strategies: planning markdowns and negotiating funding.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build relationships with brands, DC operations, team leads, Finance and Marketing departments.
  • Mentor the Junior Merchandiser by distributing workloads and fostering team development.

✔ Streamline order fulfilment to meet deadlines and OTB targets. ✔ Uphold correct system-categorisation and pricing for 100% of products. ✔ Foster supplier collaboration for optimal negotiations. ✔ Generate accurate, insight-driven analytical reports. ✔ Maximize revenue while safeguarding profit margins.

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum: 5 years in merchandising, preferably within FMCG, retail or cosmetics.
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel, office systems and retail planning tools.
