Merchandising Manager - Sales

Location: Nottingham, UK Working type: Onsite Job Type: Full-time, Permanent – 37.5 hours a week (Monday to Friday)

About the Role

As the Merchandising Manager - Sales, you will be responsible for leading the sales merchandising team in managing customer orders through delivery, ensuring best-in-class service standards are maintained for both our customers and internal departments.

This role also includes supporting the Sales Director by:

  • Managing assigned key customers
  • Serving as their primary point of contact
  • Establishing strong working relationships with Buyers, Merchandisers, and Logistics teams of key accounts

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, support, train, and guide Sales Merchandisers to ensure they fulfill their job descriptions and meet their development needs.
  • Ensure the team works effectively and efficiently.

Management Reporting

  • Establish and manage reporting for:
    • Customer meetings
    • Customer management
    • Budget management
  • Provide necessary training for the team to manage these reports individually for their assigned customers and Sales Managers.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Liaise with the Senior Sales Manager to update and report on the running of the Sales Team to the Sales Director.
  • Offer strategic recommendations to support the smooth running of the department aligned with business objectives.

Cross-Functional Communication

  • Collaborate closely with department heads to ensure:
    • Relevant customer requirements are clearly communicated within the business.
    • Standards are effectively met.

Stock & Critical Path (CP) Management

  • Lead customer-facing CPs on Orrsum stock orders to ensure:
    • Goods arrive on time.
    • Budget requirements are met.
    • Customer expectations are fulfilled.

Commercial Awareness

  • Maintain a deep understanding of:
    • The customer base.
    • Market trends.
    • Support the Sales Team in achieving business budgets and profit margins.

Requirements

Experience & Background

  • Strong fashion background, particularly within product categories such as Hosiery, Underwear, Loungewear, or related apparel.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from inception to completion and delivery.
  • Experience or demonstrated capability in:
    • Leading, mentoring, and developing a merchandising or sales support team.

Skills & Technical Expertise

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage tight deadlines and handle customer-facing Critical Paths (CPs).
  • Strong negotiation and costing skills, combined with commercial acumen to analyze market trends and profit margins.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including:
    • Advanced Excel for reporting and budget management.
    • Word and PowerPoint.
