We are now recruiting for the position of Metal Work CNC Break Press Operator. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, growing team of experts in the field and build on your career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for bending and shaping sheet metal using a press brake, ensuring each piece meets design and quality standards.
  • Follow a pre-agreed QA process that aligns with the CE accreditation requirements of precast component manufacture.
  • Set up and calibrate equipment, including selecting and installing appropriate tooling and dies, and adjusting machine settings for pressure and bending angles.
  • Inspect finished components using precision measuring tools to verify dimensional accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Read and interpret component fabrication drawings presented in both 2D and 3D formats.
  • Identify and address any defects or imperfections in metalwork.
  • Complete daily health and safety compliance check sheets.
  • Complete reports and logs for finished products using an iPad or computer.
  • Read and use measuring devices, tape measures and similar equipment, ensuring these are calibrated frequently.
  • Ensure the correct use of supplied Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Work effectively within a small team with minimal supervision once materials, tools and drawings have been provided.
  • Carry out routine maintenance on the press brake and associated equipment to ensure its safe and continuous operation.
  • Assist with cross-training colleagues to provide cover for planned and unplanned absences, supported by external training where required.
  • Work with the management of materials, including communicating stock levels and identifying requirements for consumables, tooling and material orders.
  • Provide feedback to the design department regarding achievable folding parameters and manufacturing capabilities.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Familiarity with CNC programming and machine operation.
  • Current CSCS card for UK site work is desirable.
  • Current Abrasive Wheels training certification.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' press brake operating experience.
  • Experience and certification in the operation of a 2-tonne overhead crane is desirable.
  • Manual Handling certification is desirable, although training can be provided.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings to a high standard.
  • Valid First Aid qualification is desirable.
  • Valid Forklift Truck licence is desirable.
  • Fluent English language skills and eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of basic mathematics and measurement principles.
  • Strong work ethic with enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety procedures, policies and the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Strong communication and team-working abilities.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
