Metrology Technician

AddQual Ltd is looking for a Metrology Technician to join our team in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, detail-focused individual with one to three years’ experience in metrology, dimensional inspection or precision engineering.

You will support measurement and inspection activities across technically demanding sectors, with a primary focus on aerospace manufacturing. Using AddQual’s advanced metrology systems and processes, you will inspect components and assemblies, record accurate measurement data and help ensure that customer and engineering requirements are achieved.

At AddQual, we bring decades of experience in aerospace and medical component manufacturing. We use advanced non-contact scanning, 3D printing and digital design technologies to help customers reduce costs, minimise waste and shorten lead times through metrology and data-driven decision-making.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support goods-in and dispatch activities, including receiving and checking customer components, booking items into the internal tracking system, maintaining traceability, and securely packaging completed work for return to customers.
  • Prepare components, fixtures and measurement equipment for inspection.
  • Perform dimensional inspection and precision measurement of components, assemblies, tooling and fixtures.
  • Operate optical scanning systems and manual inspection equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements.
  • Record, review and report inspection results accurately using ZEISS Inspect, Polyworks and Microsoft Excel.
  • Identify dimensional non-conformances and escalate issues to the relevant engineer or quality representative.
  • Support first-article inspection, production inspection and validation activities.
  • Assist with non-contact data capture using optical scanning systems.
  • Support engineers with measurement projects, investigations and improvement activities.
  • Ensure that inspection equipment is maintained correctly and remains within calibration.
  • Follow AddQual procedures, customer requirements and applicable quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
