CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent

HOURS OF WORK: Average 33.6 hours per week following shift pattern, 12 hours days and nights

SALARY: £29,441 per annum

CLOSING DATE: 31st July 2026

A vacancy has arisen for a MFO Industrial Cleaner to join our team within our new Operations and cleaning of a Biomass handling & storage facility contract at the Port of Tyne.

The MFO Industrial Cleaner role exists to assist with the industrial cleaning of the Biomass storage and operational areas on site, following a 12-hour shift pattern.

Hargreaves Industrial Services provide an operations, and cleaning service to our client at the Port of Tyne Biomass handling facility.

We are responsible for the safe movements and handling of Biomass following discharge from vessels and the despatch of loaded rail wagons within the Port.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties:

  • Assisting in all areas of industrial cleaning and ensuring a high standard at all times.
  • Understanding of Safe Working Procedures.
  • Attend any meetings or training sessions as required.
  • Any other related cleaning duties as requested by the Manager.

The ideal candidate will be a good communicator and must have a good understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace.

The successful candidate will also be required to support secondary roles within the operation. Examples below (training will be provided):

  • Train loading/watchman
  • FEL operations
  • Hopper operations
  • Biomass material condition monitoring

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/attributes:

  • IOSHH working safely (Minimum standard - training given)
  • Experience of industrial cleaning within a materials handling environment
  • Previous experience working within a Biomass handling environment (Desirable)
  • IPAF licence (Desirable)
  • Experience with using fixed and portable vacuum systems.
  • COMPEX training desirable however training will be available
  • Positive attitude to safety
  • Work at Height using MEWP
  • Able to undertake duties involving heavy manual labour
  • Able to communicate well at all levels
  • Flexible approach to work
  • A strong team player
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative
  • Good time keeping and willing to work overtime as necessary
  • Able to share knowledge and skills with other Hargreaves personnel
  • Ability to populate, use, and keep documented records as part of the role.
