About the role:

As a Warehouse Operative and MHE Trainer at InPost Newstrade, you play a crucial role in not only supporting daily warehouse operations but also delivering top-tier MHE training aligned with the highest standards set by accrediting bodies. You will ensure all training sessions, assessments, and certifications are meticulously conducted, documented, and maintained, guaranteeing full compliance with accreditation guidelines. Your expertise drives safety, efficiency, and excellence across our operations, empowering our team to perform at their best every day.

📍 Location: Unit2, Imperial Park, Siskin Parkway West, Coventry CV3 4PB
📅 Shift Pattern: MONDAY - FRIDAY
🕒 Hours: 06.00am - 14.30pm
💰 Salary: £30,172.00 p/a

What you’ll be doing:

Deliver High-Quality Training

  • Design, deliver, and evaluate accredited training programmes for both new and experienced Material Handling Equipment (MHE) operators, including induction, refresher, conversion, and advanced training across a range of MHE types.
  • Ensure training is engaging, effective, and aligned with operational requirements, industry best practice, and recognised accreditation standards.

Ensure Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain full compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation, company policies, and RTITB standards, ensuring operators are trained, assessed, certified, and authorised to operate MHE safely and competently.
  • Monitor changes to legislation and industry standards, updating training programmes and materials accordingly.

Maintain Training Records and Compliance

  • Develop, maintain, and manage accurate, audit-ready training records, certification registers, competency assessments, and attendance documentation to support regulatory and business compliance.
  • Produce training reports and performance metrics to support operational and compliance objectives.

Champion Health, Safety and Operational Excellence

  • Promote a proactive safety culture by embedding best practice in all training activities and reinforcing safe operating behaviours across the site.
  • Conduct workplace observations, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards, reduce operational risk, and drive continuous improvements in MHE safety performance.

Support Operational Performance

  • Partner with Operations, Health & Safety, and HR teams to identify current and future training requirements, develop site-wide training plans, and ensure workforce competency is maintained across all shifts.
  • Address skills gaps through targeted coaching, refresher training, and performance development initiatives.

Support Incident Investigation and Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in investigations relating to MHE incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and contributing to corrective and preventative actions.
  • Translate investigation findings into learning briefings, toolbox talks, and targeted training interventions to improve operational safety and prevent recurrence.

Manage the Operator Competency Framework

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive site skills matrix to monitor operator competence, certification status, refresher training requirements, and equipment authorisations.
  • Ensure competency records remain current and support workforce planning, compliance, and operational resilience.

What we need from you:

Certified Training Expertise:

  • Possess a valid MHE instructor certification from esteemed bodies such as RTITB or AITT, demonstrating formal expertise in operator training.

Hands-On MHE Experience:

  • Bring practical experience operating common MHE types, including counterbalance and reach trucks, to provide authentic, credible training.

Exceptional Communication Skills:

  • Excel in clear, engaging oral and written communication, complemented by dynamic presentation skills to effectively connect with trainees and management alike.

Unwavering Safety Commitment:

  • Demonstrate a proactive, safety-first mindset, embedding this core value into every aspect of training delivery.

Meticulous Organizational Abilities:

  • Showcase outstanding attention to detail in record-keeping and a proactive approach to managing complex training schedules and requirements.
