We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Administrator to join our team on Langley Ward within the Directorate of Mental Health.

Langley Ward is a 20-bedded Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) functional ward, based at Bennion Centre, Glenfield Hospital Site. We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Clinical Assistant to support the smooth running of the ward and enhance the patient experience by providing high-quality, person-centred care.

Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organised environment while supporting clinical staff with day-to-day tasks. You will interact with patients, visitors, and external stakeholders, helping to ensure the ward is welcoming, responsive, and efficient.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied workload, takes pride in attention to detail, and is passionate about supporting vulnerable people. You will contribute to maintaining high standards of care, safety, and dignity, ensuring patients’ basic needs are met and that the ward operates in line with Trust policies and procedures.

Job Description Summary (Main Duties And Responsibilities)

  • Support the day-to-day running of the ward, assisting clinical staff to ensure essential tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Ensure patients receive adequate food and fluids, supporting at mealtimes and accurately documenting intake, escalating concerns where required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised ward environment, including supporting with bed making and general housekeeping duties.
  • Report, monitor, and follow up maintenance or estates issues, escalating where necessary to ensure timely resolution.
  • Welcome and orientate patients, relatives, and visitors to the ward, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
  • Escort and support contractors and external personnel on the ward, ensuring adherence to safety and security procedures.
  • Assist with stock management, ensuring clinical and non-clinical supplies are available and stored appropriately.
  • Carry out environmental and safety checks, contributing to infection prevention, health and safety, and risk reduction.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, maintaining effective communication and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Support patients’ wellbeing by promoting dignity, safety, and a therapeutic ward environment at all times.
