Lockton Data Analyst Role

Role Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, challenge, and translate reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Extract, transform, analyse, and interpret data from multiple sources to support business decision-making.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and semantic models.
  • Write efficient, scalable SQL queries to support reporting.
  • Deliver insights and recommendations that help stakeholders understand trends, performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to promote a data-driven culture across the organisation.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a proactive and analytical individual who enjoys solving complex data challenges and turning information into valuable business insight.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can evolve quickly and will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing demands.
  • A strong desire to learn, develop, and continuously improve is essential.

Must have skills:

  • Power BI

    • End-to-end development of Power BI solutions, including:
      • Data ingestion and transformation (Power Query)
      • Data modelling
      • DAX development and optimisation
  • SQL & Data Analysis

    • Strong SQL development skills, including query optimisation and troubleshooting.
    • Solid understanding of relational database design and data modelling principles.
    • Experience analysing large and complex datasets to identify trends and business opportunities.

  • Excel
    • Advanced Excel skills, including:
      • Power Query
      • Power Pivot
      • Complex formulas and modelling techniques

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with Databricks in a modern data platform environment.
  • Knowledge of dbt (Data Build Tool) for data transformation and modelling.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience working with data engineering or ETL pipelines.
  • Exposure to version control and collaborative development practices (e.g., Git/GitHub).
  • Experience working within financial services, insurance, or other highly regulated industries.
