QA Scientist – Microbiology
Location: Worthing
CY Partners are recruiting for a QA Scientist – Microbiology to join a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing company. This is an exciting opportunity for a microbiologist with GMP laboratory experience to become part of a collaborative Quality team responsible for ensuring products meet the highest quality standards before release.
You'll be involved in microbiological testing of non-sterile pharmaceutical products, environmental monitoring, water testing, and laboratory investigations, while working in a regulated GMP environment.
What you'll be doing
- Perform microbiological testing of non-sterile pharmaceutical products, water samples, and stability samples.
- Carry out environmental monitoring of manufacturing and laboratory areas.
- Perform microbial identification and accurately record laboratory data.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot microbiology laboratory equipment.
- Review analytical results and microbiological reports to ensure compliance with GMP requirements.
- Support Out of Specification (OOS) investigations and CAPA activities.
- Assist with equipment qualification and microbiological method validation.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GLP, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in audits, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional projects.
- Support the training of colleagues on laboratory procedures where required.

What we're looking for
- Degree, HNC, or HND in Microbiology, Biology, or another Life Science discipline.
- Previous experience working in a GMP, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or regulated laboratory environment.
- Hands-on experience of microbiological techniques and environmental monitoring.
- Understanding of GMP/GxP principles and laboratory documentation.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping skills.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Competent with Microsoft Office and laboratory computer systems.

- Experience of pharmaceutical microbiology testing.
- Experience supporting validation or qualification activities.
- Knowledge of microbial identification techniques.
- Experience participating in investigations and CAPA activities.
