Microsoft 365 Engineer

Contract Details

  • Duration: 3-Month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC)
  • Rate: £375 – £425 per day (Base PAYE, excluding holiday pay)

About the Role

Are you a Microsoft 365 expert with a passion for automation and operational excellence? We are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft 365 Engineer to administer, secure, and optimize our technology stack across a massive global enterprise environment supporting over 150,000 users worldwide.

In this role, you will partner with infrastructure, security, and engineering teams to guarantee the performance and security of our critical collaboration platforms. You will play a vital part in driving modern workplace initiatives, implementing enterprise-grade security controls, and building automation solutions that empower global productivity while protecting organizational assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Administration: Manage and optimize core M365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Entra ID, Intune, Defender for Office 365, and Purview.
  • Messaging & Security: Oversee enterprise mail flow, transport rules, and email security solutions like Proofpoint.
  • Email Authentication: Implement and maintain robust email domain protection protocols including DMARC, SPF, and DKIM.
  • Identity & Access Management: Administer strict identity controls leveraging Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, and Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
  • Automation: Design, develop, and maintain advanced PowerShell scripts to streamline operational processes and boost service reliability.
  • Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor performance and resolve complex technical issues across collaboration, identity, and endpoint platforms.
  • Compliance & Governance: Support data retention, eDiscovery, information protection, and Zero Trust security initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with security, cloud, and networking teams to engineer highly scalable, resilient solutions.
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date technical architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and knowledge base content.
  • Operational Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure the continuous availability of business-critical collaboration services.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience administering Microsoft 365 in complex, large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Deep technical expertise supporting Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
  • Proven experience administering Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, and core identity security controls.
  • Strong background managing email security platforms (Proofpoint, Defender) and authentication standards (DMARC, SPF, DKIM).
  • Advanced capability in PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Hands-on experience administering both Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
