Microsoft 365 Solutions Engineer
Chief / Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer (M365) – Internal Technology
Department: Internal Technology Location: Oxford, UK
About the Role
Based in our Oxford office, you will join the Engineering Team within Internal Technology, responsible for the design, delivery, continual improvement, and escalation support of core services. These services provide Aurora’s staff with the processes, tools, and technology needed to perform their best work.
Reporting into Architecture and Engineering, you will work as a proactive engineer across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and underlying identity & network services.
As the successful candidate, you will:
- Take ownership of operational improvements through meticulous attention to detail.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and enrich documentation & governance.
- Mentor junior team members and drive the professional growth of Internal Technology.
- Collaborate with business users & IT colleagues to design effective, efficient solutions.
- Contribute to our ongoing international expansion, ensuring technology matures alongside a dynamic, data-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Process Leadership
- Deploy a relentless engineering mindset to implement best practices that empower Internal Technology.
- Lead by example, sharing expertise, mentoring junior team members, and fostering continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the team to enhance operational discipline and refine decision-making processes.
Microsoft 365 & Identity Expertise
- Advise, design, and implement well-architected solutions across Microsoft technologies:
- Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Windows.
- Entra ID (previously Azure AD), Intune, and Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
- Stay current with Microsoft’s evolving ecosystem and provide strategic insights for new integrations.
- Monitor and optimise connections between services (identity, networking, and tooling).

Efficiency & Employee Experience
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align Microsoft configurations with business goals.
- Streamline workflows to enhance employee productivity and collaboration using Teams/SharePoint.
- Gather requirements from end-users to refine solutions and drive adoption.
Project & System Ownership
- Participate in technology-enhancing projects, from requirements to deployment, ensuring alignment with Aurora’s business objectives.
- Take direct ownership of key platforms (e.g., Exchange, OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID).
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues, maintaining system availability in collaboration with the IT support team.
Skills & Requirements
Required
- Strong experience designing and delivering Microsoft 365 solutions (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) and Windows ecosystems.
- Hands-on experience with Entra ID and Intune/Microsoft Endpoint Manager, including end-point configuration, app management, and deployment.
- Ability to pick up backlog tasks independently, deliver them efficiently, and meet deadlines.
- Proven track record of creating/maintaining SOPs, knowledge articles, and process documentation.
- Exemplary communication to engage stakeholders at all levels (executive, peer, support) and collaboratively design solutions.
- Rigorous attention to detail, organisational skills, and self-directed project management.
- Passionate with technology and its real-world applications to solve business challenges.
- Ability to work in a hybrid/bi-modal environment with flexibility, a positive attitude, and a teacher initiative.

Desirable (Bonus)
- Experience with:
- Cloud App Security, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Defender, Power Platform, or Purview.
- Networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, Wi-Fi, firewall concepts, Azure hybrid connectivity.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSE, MCSD, or M365 specialist).
- Knowledge of PowerShell & Microsoft Graph for automation/reporting.
- Familiarity with CI/CD & DevOps tooling:
- Azure DevOps, Git, Terraform/OpenTofu, or other configuration management platforms.
- Exposure to Aurora’s Tier 1 systems:
- Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Jira, Confluence, Salesforce, SAP SuccessFactors, or Dynamics 365 F&O.
