Microsoft 365 Solutions Engineer
Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer
Department: Internal Technology Location: Oxford, UK
About the Role
Based in our Oxford office, you will join the Engineering Team within Internal Technology. This team is responsible for:
- Designing, delivering, and continually improving core services
- Escalation support for Aurora’s staff, ensuring tools, processes, and technology empower them to perform at their best
Reporting into Architecture and Engineering, your role will focus on the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including:
- Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams
- Underlying identity and network services that connect them
Key user impact: Contribute to a proactive engineering mindset, ensuring attention to detail and refining:
- Documentation
- Governance
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Balance of responsibilities:
- Independence (ownership of projects, cross-team collaboration)
- Teamwork (Sprint-driven delivery)
- Business stakeholder management (solving challenges for Aurora’s employees and co-workers)

Engineering Excellence
- Drive proactive, meticulous engineering processes to enhance Internal Technology’s capabilities for Aurora’s staff.
- Lead-by-example culture: Share technical expertise, mentor team members, and foster operational and professional growth.
- Technical ownership: Foster knowledge-sharing with peers in Internal Technology.
Microsoft Technology Expertise
- Consult, design, and implement Microsoft 365 solutions aligned with best practices across:
- Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams
- Windows, Entra ID, Intune/Microsoft Endpoint Manager
- Stay ahead: Monitor Microsoft technology advancements to provide strategic integration insights.

Efficiency and Employee Experience
- Collaborate cross-functionally to optimise Microsoft deployments that align with Aurora’s business goals.
- Boost employee experience: Ensure seamless, efficient use of Microsoft tools, enabling productivity and collaboration.
Project Involvement
- Drive technology landscape enhancements: Participate in projects from requirements design to implementation and success validation.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Align changes with wider business objectives for smooth execution.
System Ownership
- Tactical system ownership: Champion specific Microsoft ecosystem components with hands-on deep technical focus.
- Troubleshoot, improve system health, and maintain high availability
- Collaborate closely with the IT support function for system reliability.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Required
- Proven experience designing/implementing well-engineered Microsoft 365 solutions (prioritising Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) and Windows.
- End-user identity management (Entra ID, Intune/Microsoft Endpoint Manager) with end-to-end endpoint configuration/deployment experience.
- Backlog champion mindset: Comfortable taking ownership of defined stories and delivering them with minimal supervision.
- Documentation-driven: Experience creating/maintaining knowledge articles, SOPs, or process documentation.
- Stakeholder confidence: Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate across business levels and with technical teams to design solutions.
- Detail-oriented professionalism: Time management, organisation, and scrutiny in engineering tasks.
- Self-starters: Flexibility, problem-solving attitude, and capacity to work independently without compromising deadlines.
- Mindset: Passion for tech and drive to solve business challenges.
Desirable
- Cloud+ applications: Familiarity with Copilot Studio, Purview, Power Platform, Defender.
- Networking expertise: Proficient in:
- TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
- Wi-Fi, VPN, firewall concepts
- Hybrid Azure connectivity
- Microsoft certifications: Preferable advantage in any relevant credential.
- Automation: Practical knowledge of PowerShell and Microsoft Graph for reporting/automation.
- DevOps: Hands-on experience with:
- Configuration management tools (Azure DevOps, Git, Terraform, OpenTofu)
- CI/CD pipelines tailored for Microsoft environments.
- Tyler 1 system fluency: Experience with one or more of:
- Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Jira, Confluence, Salesforce, SAP SuccessFactors, Dynamics 365 F&O.
