Mid Backend Developer

Purpose of the Role
We’re looking for a Core Platform Developer to design, build, and maintain the server software powering Yoti’s identity technology. You’ll be key to ensuring our back-end systems are secure, reliable, and scalable.
Role Dimensions
- Reports to: Core Team Lead
- Focus: Core server software development (design, implementation, integration)
Principal Responsibilities

Software Development:
- Develop server software from design through to implementation and integration testing to meet business needs
- Ensure continuous development environments, CI/CD systems, and developer tools are optimised for efficiency

Collaborative Architecture:
- Participate in architecture definition iterations, working with Team Leads and the VP of Engineering

Quality & Delivery:
- Collaborate with teammate and leads to ensure smooth execution of technical projects
- Maintain high standards in solution design and development quality

Cross-Team Support:
- Work closely with other Yoti teams to refine interactions with our platform

What We Expect From You
Must-Haves
- Secure software development experience (fruitful curiosity to learn Go will drive you forward)
- Linux proficiency
- **Advanced version control knowledge (e.g., git), including impactful commit messages and peer reviews
- Problem-solving mindset: Ability to own projects end-to-end while collaborating
Nice-to-Haves
- Microservices experience (e.g., gRPC, Kubernetes, Docker)
- Security & cryptography expertise (bonus points)
Soft Skills
- Clear communicator (ability to articulate ideas and collaborate with diverse teams)
- Business-first mindset: Ability to translate requirements across the company to achieve goals
Interview Process
- Pre-Screen (30 mins): Chat with the talent acquisition team to align on your motivations and the role.
- Team Overview (45 mins): Brief call with team members to delve deeper into your fit.
- Technical Assessment: Propose or solve technical challenges through work samples or live tasks.
- In-Person Interview (120 mins): In-depth discussion with core contributors—culture check + technical deep dive.
