Mid Java/Clojure Engineer
Java/Clojure Engineer – OTC Derivatives Data
About the Role
Grade Level (for internal use): 09
The OTC Derivatives Data team provides consistent and reliable curve and volatility data for over-the-counter derivatives, supporting trading, research, valuation, and independent price verification. As a Java/Clojure Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with product and data specialists across all asset classes, extending our platform while ensuring high standards of test coverage, automated deployment, and regular delivery cycles.
Responsibilities and Impact
• Develop new software and enhance existing applications, adhering to best practices in user experience (UX), scalability, performance, and security • Work closely with business analysts and product specialists on platform maintenance, improvements, and technical support • Engage with the global OTC Derivatives Data development team on all platform aspects, including infrastructure, architecture, and asset-class coverage • Maintain clear, regular communication with stakeholders (managers, peers, leads) to deliver updates • Build strong relationships with product stakeholders to drive collaboration • Assist in application support and maintenance, investigating and resolving issues to ensure business continuity
What We’re Looking For
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, numerate discipline, or equivalent
- Approximately 3 years of experience working on distributed Java platforms and web technologies
- Experience with modern Java (e.g., Java 17, 21)
- Willingness to learn and work with Clojure
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux and Windows environments
- Profound knowledge of agile software development methodologies
- Strong grasp of fundamental software principles (object-oriented design, databases, algorithms, data structures)
- Early-stage completion focusing on design, problem-solving, and architectural guidance
- Motivation to acquire knowledge of the financial sector (experience with derivatives is advantageous)

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with functional programming languages, particularly Clojure
- Familiarity with database technologies, including distributed databases (Datomic, DynamoDB, etc.)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and services such as:
- Object storage
- Serverless computing
- Caching solutions
- Ability to mentor team members and actively participate in technical decision-making
