The Role
We are seeking a creative and technically minded Mid-level Product / Industrial Designer to join our design & development team. This role will require you to progress concepts from initial sketches to production-ready specifications, serving as a critical bridge between human-centred design and product engineering.
Your work will help ensure that QUICKPLAY’s equipment enables athletes of all ages and levels to train safely and effectively, elevating their performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Concept, Prototype & Testing
- Create innovative product concepts tailored for sports training markets.
- Balance functional utility with creative vision while maintaining QUICKPLAY’s design ethos.
- Validate design feasibility and performance through an iterative process, including:
- Low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototyping
- Rigorous hands-on testing in real-world athletic environments
- Ensure designs meet or exceed QUICKPLAY’s high-quality standards.

CAD Development
- Produce high-precision 3D models and comprehensive technical drawing packages for mass production.
- Optimise designs for diverse manufacturing processes, including:
- Injection moulding
- Metal fabrication
- Cut-and-sew textiles
- Maintain strict tolerances for product assemblies.

Product Sourcing
- Manage the product sourcing lifecycle, encompassing:
- Submitting Requests for Quotes (RFQs)
- Negotiating costs and lead times
- Ensure materials meet technical specifications.
- Cultivate strong relationships with production partners to facilitate a seamless transition from design to production.

DFM (Design for Manufacture)
- Collaborate with overseas production partners to preserve design intent prior to mass production.

Quality Control & Product Validation
- Develop rigorous testing protocols, including “Golden Samples,” to ensure mass-produced units consistently meet:
- Safety standards
- Performance benchmarks
- Industrial design criteria
- Lead Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) for your own products.
- Conduct physical stress testing on prototypes.
- Partner closely with:
- In-house Quality Control (QC) teams
- Overseas manufacturers to identify and address quality deviations before production.
- Develop rigorous testing protocols, including “Golden Samples,” to ensure mass-produced units consistently meet:

- Serve as a key liaison between departments, ensuring clear communication among stakeholders regarding:
- Design intent
- Technical specifications
- Project updates
- Maintain and manage design-related documentation.
- Ensure transparent information flow across:
- Design
- Marketing
- Sales
- Operations teams for project alignment from concept to launch.

Requirements & Skills
Experience:
- 3–5 years in a physical product design role (either consultancy-based or in-house).
- Experience in the sports product development sector is highly advantageous.
Software Proficiency:
- Highly skilled in SolidWorks.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, including:
- Injection moulding
- Metal fabrication
- Textiles
- Expertise in assembly methods.
Communication:
- Ability to clearly articulate complex design concepts, cost considerations, and technical problem-solving.
Human Factors:
- Strong grasp of ergonomics and anthropometrics.
- Understanding of athletic movement in training.
Portfolio:
- A rich portfolio demonstrating the full product development journey:
- From initial messy sketches
- Failed prototypes
- Successful final products or concepts.

- Comfortable in a hands-on workshop setting, proficient with tools as well as CAD.
