Who we’re looking for
Zivio is a rapidly growing and highly ambitious Procure-tech startup. We are looking for a Mid-Level Ruby Engineer who will be responsible for working on our award-winning Rails application. You’ll be spending most of your time coding and working in close liaison with our small team of developers to design and develop new features for our clients and support our existing client needs.
We operate in a highly agile environment with multiple product releases each week so this position gives you the chance to hit the ground running and start making an impact from day one. You will also have the opportunity to build on your skills by learning about and working with the many languages and technologies we use.
We're a start-up so life is always busy and never boring, and we need someone with drive and initiative to provide a meaningful contribution to the team as we scale up our business and continue to develop the product for our customers in the UK and overseas.
Responsibilities
- Develop features and improvements to the Zivio product in a secure, well-tested, and performant way
- Analyze and interpret highly complex data to arrive at actionable recommendations
- Collaborate with Technology Leadership and other stakeholders within Engineering to maintain a high bar for quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment
- Advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance
- Solve technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
- Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
- Confidently ship small to medium sized features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members. Collaborate with the team on larger projects.
- Participate in Customer Support to solve customer issues in a timely manner and assist teammates in troubleshooting product operations, security operations, and urgent engineering issues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
