About Boxbar Tech
Boxbar Tech is an award-winning, high-growth technology company transforming the way drinks are served across stadiums, arenas, festivals, events and hospitality venues around the world.
Our automated self-service drinks technology helps our partners serve customers faster, reduce queues, improve drink quality and increase operational efficiency. Behind the physical hardware is a growing technology platform combining Android applications, cloud services, payment integrations, management software and real-time data.
We design, build, deploy and support our technology in live environments where performance and reliability genuinely matter.
As Boxbar continues to scale, we are looking for a Mid-Level Software Developer who enjoys solving real-world problems, working across a varied technology stack and taking ownership of features from initial design through to deployment.
The Opportunity
You will join a small, collaborative engineering team working across several products and technologies.
No two weeks will be the same. You could be developing new features for our Android kiosk application, building backend services, integrating a new payment provider or investigating an issue involving hardware, software and networking.
This is an excellent opportunity for a developer who enjoys broad technical challenges and wants the freedom to contribute ideas, influence technical decisions and see their work operating in major venues and events around the world.
You will work closely with colleagues across Engineering, Product, Operations and Client Success to turn commercial and operational requirements into reliable, maintainable software.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing new features for our Android kiosk application
- Building and maintaining backend services and REST APIs
- Integrating third-party payment providers and external platforms
- Working with cloud infrastructure and serverless technologies
- Supporting integrations between software, payment devices and physical hardware
- Investigating and resolving issues across applications, devices, hardware and networks
- Improving application performance, stability and reliability
- Contributing to architecture and technical design discussions
- Writing clean, testable and maintainable code
- Reviewing code and helping maintain high engineering standards
- Supporting deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement
- Working closely with Product and Operations teams to deliver new functionality
- Taking ownership of features from initial concept through to production

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
