You’ll be joining Bauer Media Audio (BMA), Europe’s biggest commercial audio broadcaster, connecting audiences across nine markets to the music, stories and experiences they love. Bauer Media Audio is making a significant investment in a new in‑house software development hub in Manchester. This new hub reinforces Manchester’s position as a key technology centre for Bauer Media Audio, alongside its existing locations. We’re creating a new development team to build innovative business critical solutions that will power Bauer Media’s audio platform of the future. Our team thrives on collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions, working closely with product and technology peers to ensure our platforms meet the evolving needs of the business and our international markets.
The Difference You Will Make
As a Software Engineer, you’ll contribute to building the next generation Audio Platform at Bauer Media Audio. Working alongside senior engineers, you’ll build and maintain features and services, grow your skills, and take on increasing ownership as the team scales.
Your Role
You'll contribute to feature delivery, participate in code review, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver quality software. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain features and services across the platform.
- Contribute to prototyping and early-stage feature work.
- Participate in code review, contributing and receiving feedback constructively, and support junior engineers as the team grows.
- Collaborate with product and technology teams.
- Apply DevOps practices and contribute to CI/CD, automation, and observability.
- Write and maintain tests (unit, integration) and apply security best practices in day-to-day development.
- Participate in incident management.
- Support recruitment and onboarding.

The Skills You Will Bring
Required:
- Solid engineering experience, with ability to work independently on features across client and server layers.
- Flexibility to move across front-end and back-end technologies, adapting quickly to different parts of the stack as the team and product evolve.
- Experience with Node/TypeScript, React, Java, AWS; strong candidates with comparable experience welcome.
- Knowledge of microservices, APIs, and cloud deployment.
- Experience with CI/CD and containerisation.
- Security best practices knowledge.
- Good problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
Desirable:
- Media or streaming industry experience.
- Incident management familiarity.
- Interest in AI engineering tools.
- Documentation skills.
Working Pattern and Location
This is a permanent, hybrid, full-time role with an in-office presence twice a week in our Manchester hub. This role also includes rota participation.
