Role Overview

Reporting to: Head of Design
Job type: Permanent
Salary: Competitive
Working Pattern & Hours: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Hybrid – 3 days in the office (Office located: London, SE1 or Lancashire, WN8)

We are looking for a talented and user-centred Mid-Weight UX Designer to join our growing design team. This role is ideal for someone with at least 3 years of UX design experience who is passionate about creating intuitive, accessible, and impactful digital experiences.

Working closely with the Design, Product, Development, Marketing, and Healthcare teams, you will help shape and optimise user journeys across our three brands: Chemist4U, myBMI, and myPharmacy.

Experience within healthcare, pharmacy, medical, or other highly regulated industries would be advantageous, but is not essential. We are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong UX thinking, a user-first mindset, and experience solving complex problems in digital products.

Key Responsibilities

As the Mid-Weight UX Designer, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Lead UX design activities across web, app and digital product projects, from discovery through to delivery.
  • Create user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and UX documentation.
  • Design intuitive and accessible user experiences that align with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Work alongside the product manager and developers to support implementation and ensure design quality throughout delivery.
  • Analyse user behaviour and performance data to identify opportunities for optimisation and continuous improvement.
  • Advocate for user-centred design principles across the organisation.
  • Contribute to the evolution of our design system and UX best practices.
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder reviews, and collaborative design sessions where appropriate.

About You

We're looking for someone with a strong user-first mindset who is passionate about creating meaningful digital experiences and solving complex problems. You will have excellent attention to detail, a commitment to high-quality design, and the confidence to contribute ideas, challenge assumptions constructively, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

As the digital landscape continues to evolve, particularly with the rapid advancement of AI, we're seeking someone who is curious, adaptable, and eager to learn new tools, technologies, and ways of working.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact within a fast-growing healthcare business where design plays an increasingly important role in shaping customer experiences. You'll join a collaborative and supportive team environment, working alongside the Lead UX Designer, a Senior Designer, and external UX contractors, while continuing to develop your skills and career.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful Mid-Weight UX Designer will need to possess the following skills and experience:

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in a UX Designer role.
  • Bachelor's degree in User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Product Design or a related field.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UX thinking, problem-solving, and end-to-end design processes.
  • Proficiency in Figma, including wireframing, prototyping, design systems, and collaborative workflows.
  • Strong understanding of information architecture, interaction design, and accessibility principles.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce customer journeys and conversion optimisation.
  • Experience working within agile product teams.
  • Experience working with design systems and component-based design.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.

Preferred

  • Experience within healthcare, pharmacy, medical, health-tech, or other regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
  • Experience conducting and interpreting user research and usability testing.
  • Experience or interest in using AI-powered tools, including Figma Make, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude or other AI-assisted design, prototyping, or development tools.
