The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) is the UK's chartered professional body dedicated to educating, developing and regulating actuaries based both in the UK and internationally.
The IFoA regulates and represents over 34,000 members worldwide, overseeing their actuarial education at all stages of qualification and development throughout their careers. We set examinations, continuing professional development, professional codes and disciplinary standards for our members.
We are currently recruiting a Middle East and Africa Project Support for a fixed term contract until the end of December.
This role is hybrid, both working from home and in our London hub.
We encourage our colleagues to work flexibly between home and the hub to suit their needs and preferences, in line with our flexible working policy. Colleagues are able to work their hours flexibly, in line with core business hours and requirements.
The starting salary is £37,240.

Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality support to the Head of New Markets Development in the transition to the new structure and new Regional Manager – Middle East. The contractor will support business development and relationship management activity across the priority markets, liaising with stakeholders, preparing presentations, and providing briefings and management information to support the successful delivery of market plans and the transition to a new structure and new team for the Middle East and for Africa.
The contractor will report to the Head of New Markets Development but may also be required to support wider Market, Partner & Member Development Group (MPMDG) activity.
Main Activities And Responsibilities
- Support the Head of New Markets Development in the organisation and delivery of business development and member engagement activities across priority markets.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and insights to support the delivery of market plans.
- Undertake research (internal and external), gathering data and information to support market activity.
- Interrogate the CRM, run, and contribute to the creation of reports to help inform decision making.
- Collate data and metrics to ensure progress is reported in relation to delivery of market plan.
- Prepare communications and marketing collateral to support the active engagement of student members, members, universities, and employers.
- Organise and coordinate IFoA and joint events, including in-person meetings in priority markets.
- Act as a main contact for general enquiries from members and external stakeholders across the region.
- Engage regional IFoA member communities, and contribute to the development and delivery of a programme of relationship building.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including employers and universities).
- Contribute to the creation of innovations to support the MPMDG team in delivering the IFoA strategy.
- Ensure effective communication across the MPMDG team and across the wider organisation.
- Work with the MDG (MPMDG) support team to share information and coordinate activities.
- Contribute to internal MDG (MPMDG) team communications as required.
- Support MDG(MPMDG)’s key projects and events.

- Contribute to and support the implementation of business development and member engagement strategies to attract and develop the next generation of actuaries.
- Develop a process for reporting and sharing outcomes from market activities.
- Identify appropriate data sources and insight information, to support effective decision making.
- Develop and follow clear procedures, making process improvements as and when such opportunities are identified.
- Effectively manage, prioritise and schedule workload to meet competing deadlines.
Complexity
- Reporting to line manager but also (when required) support the Director.
- Ability to interpret data to inform decision making and make recommendations or identify risks.
- Contribute to market prioritisation by providing quality data to support investment into the right markets at the right time.
- Core skills required: problem solving, prioritising, data collection and analysis, planning ahead, managing conflicting pressures whilst remaining calm and collected.
- Ability to engage with a range of different stakeholders at all levels.
- A collaborative and flexible approach to work, and the ability to contribute fully as part of a team.
- Collating, proofreading, formatting, and circulation of documents and other papers, presentations, establishing and maintaining spreadsheets/databases and action logs.
