Middle Office & Operations Manager - Specialist Investment Manager

London | Hybrid

A highly respected specialist investment manager with over £10bn+ AUM is looking to appoint a Middle Office & Operations Manager to join its growing investment platform.

Reporting directly to the COO, this is a high-profile position offering broad exposure across front office, operations, compliance, finance, and external service providers. The role sits at the heart of the investment business and will play a key part in driving operational excellence as the firm continues to scale.

The Opportunity

As the operational lead for the investment platform, you'll oversee the end-to-end middle office function while delivering strategic initiatives that improve efficiency, scalability, and control across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the firm's middle office and investment operations function, ensuring seamless day-to-day delivery.
  • Partner directly with the COO on strategic operational initiatives and business transformation projects.
  • Drive process optimization through automation, technology, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Oversee trading support, corporate actions, portfolio oversight, regulatory reporting, and operational controls.
  • Manage operational onboarding for new funds and investment mandates.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with custodians, administrators, depositaries, and other third-party providers.
  • Coordinate investor, management, and regulatory reporting across the investment platform.
  • Ensure the integrity and governance of investment and operational data.
  • Lead system implementations and operational change projects.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a small operations team while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Experience within asset management, investment operations, or fund operations.
  • Strong knowledge of middle office processes and investment lifecycle management.
  • Experience managing operational projects, process improvements, or systems implementations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to work directly with senior leadership.
  • A commercial mindset with a genuine interest in improving how an investment business operates.
  • A naturally organized and proactive approach, with the ability to balance strategic projects alongside day-to-day delivery.
