Hawksworth are supporting a global Investment Bank in recruiting a Middleware & Application Engineer. This is a 6 months assignment but there is the intention to extend for a long-term assignment. This will be on an inside IR35 basis, £700 per day to the Umbrella company. Central London location. Hybrid working - x3 days a week onsite.
The Job:
You will be a specialist Middleware & Application Engineer in a team that provides specialized middleware and application support to the ENET environment, the banks dedicated low-latency infrastructure supporting Electronic trading systems across FX and Fixed Income.

The prime focus will be to:
- Take ownership and administration of the enterprise Solace messaging infrastructure (you don’t have to have experience of Solace as it is quite niche, but you will need to be happy to pick it up quickly and happy to learn it).
- Trading Middleware integration.
- Monitoring & performance for systems such as Corvil, ITRS Geneos.
- Market connectivity.
- Application onboarding.
- Data Analytics & Database Engineering.
What you will need:
- Solace experience or willingness to learn it.
- Middleware messaging.
- Strong Linux/ Unix administration skills with focus on networking and messaging performance tuning.
- Network infrastructure understanding including multicasting routing, firewalls and low-latency network design.
- SME in application services – good application service engineer.
- Scripting – Python (Open to other scripting languages).
- Trading industry experience.
- Product experience ideally in FX or Fixed Income.
