Rotational Midwife – NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC)

- Hold a live NMC UK PIN
- Have a valid UK Driving Licence (for community rotations)
The Role
We’re seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate Registered Midwife to join our maternity services in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde—one of Scotland’s largest and most prominent maternity providers.
This rotational post (Princess Royal Maternity Hospital) offers diverse experiences: ✅ Labour ward care ✅ Inpatient maternity units ✅ Community midwifery ✅ Specialist assessment areas
Initially based in the North Community, this role supports new and experienced midwives by helping them develop as confident, well-rounded practitioners while providing exceptional care to women and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, woman/baby-centred care aligned with evidence-based practice
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care throughout pregnancy, labour, and postnatal periods
- Act as an advocate for women and families, ensuring safe, compassionate and person-centred support
- Monitor and respond to clinical changes, initiating timely interventions when needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance communication and care coordination
- Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives
- Supervise staff and foster a positive learning culture

Requirements
Essential
- Registered Midwife on Part 10 of the NMC Register (degree-level qualification)
- Post-registration experience in maternity care
- Teamwork and initiative in fast-paced clinical settings
- Excellent communication—able to deliver empathetic, complex information
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and safe high-quality care
- IT literacy and willingness to engage with digital systems and ongoing learning
Desirable
- Valid UK driving licence (to comply with community fleet rota access)
