Band 7 Midwife/General Obstetric Sonographer – North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust

About the Role

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Midwife/General Obstetric Sonographer to join our expanding Maternity Ultrasound Service. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a modern, well-equipped District General Hospital in the multicultural, rapidly growing city of Peterborough, with cross-site responsibilities at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

A unique advantage of this role is the opportunity to contribute to the shaping of services ahead of the new multi-million-pound, state-of-the-art hospital planned for construction in 2027–2028.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

  • Deliver high-quality obstetric ultrasound services across all stages of pregnancy, including:
    • Routine, anomaly, and specialist scanning
    • Development in multiple pregnancy and complex obstetric scanning
  • Work independently and collaboratively with obstetric, fetal medicine, and maternity colleagues to support effective clinical pathways, in alignment with the Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme guidelines.
  • Provide clinical leadership, support, and mentorship to midwifery and sonography staff.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement across both Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke sites.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and patient care.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
