Area Manager – Amazon Operations (Military Background Focus)

About the Role

As an Area Manager, you’ll lead your team to maintain safe, efficient, and high-quality operations while delivering cutting-edge productivity improvements across our global network.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performance team, fostering a culture of safety, wellbeing, and operational excellence.

  • Oversee projects aimed at streamlining processes and optimising workforce productivity to meet customer demand.
  • Monitor shift performance against KPIs, developing action plans to drive continuous operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leadership teams to standardise best practices and scale success across projects.

A Typical Day

  • Shift leadership: Working on-site to ensure peak operational performance—balancing day-to-day management with strategic initiatives.
  • Safety & quality assurance: Holding yourself and your team to high standards while mitigating risks.
  • Process improvements: Identifying inefficiencies and pioneering solutions to enhance productivity, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Leadership: Mentoring junior managers, coaching new starters, and inspirational guidance for your team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in a business-related field, such as:
    • Business Administration
    • Data Science
    • Public Administration
    • Finance
    • Engineering
    • Human Resources (or equivalent relevant background)
  • Proven people management skills.
  • Experience in stakeholder communication, engaging effectively with peers, leadership, and external partners.
  • Ability to analyse data or anecdotal insights to make data-driven business decisions.
  • Advanced verbal/written command of English and local language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Prior experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or manufacturing environments.
