Area Manager – Amazon Operations (Military Background Focus)

About the Role

As an Area Manager, you’ll lead your team to maintain safe, efficient, and high-quality operations while delivering cutting-edge productivity improvements across our global network.

Responsibilities
- Lead a high-performance team, fostering a culture of safety, wellbeing, and operational excellence.
- Analyse and implement strategic changes to boost quality, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency at your site.
- Oversee projects aimed at streamlining processes and optimising workforce productivity to meet customer demand.
- Monitor shift performance against KPIs, developing action plans to drive continuous operational improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leadership teams to standardise best practices and scale success across projects.

A Typical Day
- Shift leadership: Working on-site to ensure peak operational performance—balancing day-to-day management with strategic initiatives.
- Safety & quality assurance: Holding yourself and your team to high standards while mitigating risks.
- Process improvements: Identifying inefficiencies and pioneering solutions to enhance productivity, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
- Leadership: Mentoring junior managers, coaching new starters, and inspirational guidance for your team.
Basic Qualifications
- Degree in a business-related field, such as:
- Business Administration
- Data Science
- Public Administration
- Finance
- Engineering
- Human Resources (or equivalent relevant background)
- Proven people management skills.
- Experience in stakeholder communication, engaging effectively with peers, leadership, and external partners.
- Ability to analyse data or anecdotal insights to make data-driven business decisions.
- Advanced verbal/written command of English and local language.

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Prior experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or manufacturing environments.
