Mince Room Operator – ABP UK (Glasgow, Penston Site)

About the Role

ABP UK is part of the ABP Food Group, a leading food producer with factories in Ireland, the UK, and Europe, specialising in premium British and Irish beef and lamb supply for retail, foodservice, and wholesale.

Key Responsibilities

The Mince Room Operator will be responsible for:

  • Meeting production targets and continuously optimising efficiency through cost control, yield, and utilisation.
  • Ensuring product integrity, traceability, and consistency per customer specifications, critical control points, and regulation compliance.
  • Adhering strictly to food safety standards, including:
    • Personal and company hygiene protocols
    • H&S (Health & Safety) requirements
    • Food laws and labelling legislation
  • Operating machinery efficiently while maintaining optimal production quality standards, reducing defects, and maximising yield.
  • Supporting team cohesion and ensuring smooth workflows within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement in processes, working closely with QA, production, and site teams.

Requirements

  • ** Experience in working in a food processing or meat production environment** is highly advantageous, particularly in a mince or prep room setting.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance (H&S, GMP, and traceability requirements).
  • Able to meet physical demands, including operating machinery, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Attention to detail to maintain product consistency.
  • Team-working attitudes within a structured, fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and company values.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision in a busy production setting.
