This vacancy is only available for applications from existing Internal Plymouth City Council employees and Agency Workers who are in an active placement and have 12 weeks continuous service. We are looking for an organised, professional and highly motivated Minute Taker to join the Business Support Team that supports the work of the Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Service.

This is an important role that supports safeguarding arrangements across Children's Services by providing accurate, timely and professional records of key meetings involving children, young people and their families.

You will work closely with Independent Chairs, Independent Reviewing Officers and other multi-agency professionals, supporting meetings including:

  • Child Protection Conferences
  • Child in Care Reviews
  • Other safeguarding and quality assurance meetings

Your work will contribute to ensuring that significant decisions, actions and outcomes are recorded clearly and accurately, supporting the ongoing safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.

About The Role

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Listen carefully and identify key information within detailed discussions.
  • Produce concise, accurate and professional meeting records.
  • Maintain concentration over extended periods whilst attending and recording meetings.
  • Manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and written communication skills.

This role requires excellent typing skills, strong organisational abilities and the confidence to work within a fast-paced environment where accuracy is essential.

Essential Qualifications, Skills And Experience

You will have:

  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Business Support, Administration or a related field, or relevant equivalent experience within business support.
  • Experience of minute-taking and producing accurate written records.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation skills.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office applications and web-based systems.
  • Administrative experience within a busy office environment.
  • Experience of providing high-quality customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team.
  • A willingness to undertake training and development relevant to the role.

Knowledge and Understanding

We Are Particularly Interested In Candidates Who Can Demonstrate

  • An understanding of safeguarding principles and processes.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • An understanding of Children's Services and the challenges faced by children, young people and families.
  • An appreciation of information governance, confidentiality and data protection requirements.
  • The ability to work professionally when dealing with sensitive or emotive information.
