Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer
Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer – North West Fire & Rescue Contract
Works best based in Preston with coverage across 16 Fire Stations in Merseyside, Lancashire, and Cumbria.
Job Summary
EQUANS are seeking a permanent full-time (40-hour) Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer for their Fire & Rescue services contract.
This is a customer-facing role with tight deadlines, requiring strong communication, prioritisation, teamwork, and the ability to work flexibly under pressure.
The ideal candidate will cover ** HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) maintenance** across multiple fire stations, ensuring regulatory compliance, proactive upkeep, and responsive repairs. A full driving licence is essential, and a company vehicle will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply specialised trade skills to complete scheduled, planned, and reactive HVAC maintenance, maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and rectify defects in ventilation systems, plant, and components while maintaining accurate records.
- Keep FGas register up to date with all statutory and permanent installations and reactive servicing work.
- Maintain qualifications, tradespeople knowledge, and compliance with industry standards.
- Communicate proactively to liaise with client representatives, resolve issues, and report any dangerous situations immediately.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies, risk assessments, and sustainable work procedures.
- Work on-call and occasionally outside standard working hours as required.

Person Specification & Requirements
Professional Qualifications & Licences
- Recognised NVQ/App_PR फ़्रovo inne Degree or minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience in Ac/Conditioning repair & installation within the Building Services Industry.
- FGas (&ODS) certification is mandatory.
- Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (60087) or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience within a similar role environment is essential.
- Full, clean driving licence (Company vehicle provided).
Soft Skills & Personal Attributes
- Strong ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication to engage with customers, colleagues, and clients.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Decisive and independent with the ability to work across contact teams.
- Experience with IT tasks (updating tablets, scheduling software).
