Mobile Approved Electrician
Location: North West England (based from HMP Risley, Warrington WA3 6BP)
Salary: £37,953 - £43,039 + 15% weekend shift allowance
Benefits:
- Company van and fuel card provided for business use only
Hours: 39 hours per week | Mon-Fri 08:00-17:00 | 1 in 4 weekend rota (+15% allowance) + on-call (paid separately)
About the Role
Looking for a role that offers variety, autonomy and long-term stability? Join Amey's Ministry of Justice team as a Mobile Approved Electrician, supporting approximately six secure sites across the North West. You'll play a key role in keeping critical electrical systems safe, compliant and operational within the prison estate.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, testing and reactive repairs across multiple prison sites.
- Acting as the Responsible Person for electrical systems, ensuring statutory and mandatory compliance is maintained.
- Undertaking Authorised Person duties, including isolations, permits to work and supervision of electrical works.
- Reviewing EICRs, installation certificates and contractor documentation to ensure work meets required standards.
- Providing technical electrical support to site teams, carrying out risk assessments and helping manage electrical compliance across your portfolio.

What We're Looking For
- ECS Gold Card, NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent) and AM2 are essential.
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (17th Edition considered with support to upgrade).
- Qualify for Amey Electrical AP responsibilities.
- Good working knowledge of planned and preventive maintenance operations.
- Minimum 5 years' electrical experience, including inspection, testing and fault finding on commercial or industrial systems.
- Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel to sites across the account to provide support.
